The Future is Neurodiverse – Autistics Working

Being autistic doesn’t make a person defective or broken. They have a different type of mind that allows them to view the world with a unique and fresh perspective.

AAG’s VP of Marketing always knew she was different, but for the first thirty years of life, her learning differences slipped through the cracks. The communication, sensory, and varied learning style differences that are common in autistic and neurodivergent people are, for the most part, invisible to many.

Christa Holmans will deliver a presentation that speaks from the heart, sharing her personal experience growing up and entering the workforce as autistic and undiagnosed, weaving in personal experience, stories, and humor where appropriate.

Presentation Content & Objectives

Increasing numbers of autistic adults are entering the workforce. Diversity & Inclusion programs that don’t include neurodiversity are already obsolete. Neurodivergent employees are eagerly entering the workplace, bringing along fresh perspectives and valuable skills. Jumpstart your organization’s neurodiversity initiative with these tips, directly from a successful autistic HR Professional.

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Hear a powerful and inspiring story about how having a supportive environment can be the difference between employee success and failure, especially for autistic and neurodivergent team members.

  • Discover the hidden struggles and learn how to break down stigmas associated with commonly misunderstood behaviors and habits of neurodivergent individuals; putting themselves in the shoes of an autistic employee, closely examining autistic sensory processing and work style differences.

  • Learn how to create an environment where being openly neurodivergent becomes the new normal and how people can better support, empower, and encourage employees with cognitive differences, ensuring every employee can reach their full potential.

Tickets will be sent after event registration. All donations go towards supporting employment outcomes for neurodivergent youth. Register now at bit.ly/viabilityhr.
