ND Socials

Who: self-identified ND people and allies, ages 16+

What: games and other social activities (e.g., Jackbox, Kahoot, Karoake, chatting, Just Dance, etc.). We always have multiple activity options each week that you can choose between.

When: every Saturday, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm ET

Where: online on Zoom (sign-up for link - scroll to the bottom of this page)

Why: to have fun, make friends, and build community

More Info: our weekly meetups give neurodivergent youth an opportunity to play games, talk, and hang out in a less formal and more peer-to-peer environment than programming run by most traditional disability orgs. Similar programs for our community often had rigid structures, with a strong distinction made between the “program staff” running the events and the “participants”, but we wanted to create a more natural and organic space where everyone has a chance to connect with each other, to contribute to the space and do things like lead activities, and to become genuine friends with a real community.

COMING SOON: ND Kids Connect

Who: self-identified ND kids and allies, ages 12-15*

What: games and other social activities (e.g., Jackbox, Kahoot, Karoake, chatting, Just Dance, etc.). We always have multiple activity options each week that kids can choose between.

When: TBD (To Be Decided)

Where: online on Zoom

Why: to have fun, make friends, and build community

More Info: our goal for this program is to create a fun, accessible, inclusive, and safe space for kids to hang out, make friends, and have authentic interactions where they can be themselves. Each week, kids will be able to choose one of three different recreational activity options. These will vary each session but include Jackbox games, Kahoot, Karaoke, Just Dance, a conversation room, Guess Who, Connect 4 and virtual tours! Kids will also have the opportunity to learn from neurodivergent role models who will be acting as facilitators for this program.

How to Sign-Up: we are expecting to launch this program in July 2022. If you are interested in signing up your child, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page and we will email you when we have full information.

*Note: If you have a child under 12 who you think a program like this would be a good fit for - let us know at the bottom of this page!

COMING SOON: ND Job Search Support Group

Who: self-identified ND jobseekers, ages 16+

What: a peer accountability and support group through the job search process. Each week, we will meet for 2 hours, share challenges and successes, and all search for work as a community. Mentors will be available to provide support and answer questions in breakout rooms (e.g., resume and cover letter help, help with finding job listings, help with interview prep, etc.).

When: TBD (To Be Decided)

Where: online on Zoom

Why: to job search and find work in a supportive community

More Info: we know from our experiences that the job search can be hard! We want to create an environment which normalizes how difficult it can be and which recognizes how ableist many job application processes are. We also want to build a community where people feel heard and supported, because emotional support matters a ton but is often overlooked in the job search process. Our mentors are able to provide good support because they are familiar with concepts like rejection sensitive dysphoria, autistic burnout, neurodivergent masking, and body doubling, among others.

How to Sign-Up: we are expecting to launch this program in July 2022. If you are interested in signing up, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page and we will email you when we have full information.

Work with Us

This isn’t a formal program, but we are always looking for ND people and allies to join our team, support us in planning events, being a mentor, running programs, and helping us with app development. If any of this interests you, contact us via our volunteer page or email us at info@viablecareers.org.

More on the App Development: we are developing a mentorship and networking platform for the ND community. We are currently looking for more people to join our team to help with the app’s development (coding, business development, and design roles available - no prior design experience necessary for being on the design team). We have a drop-in meeting schedule to be accommodating to people’s different existing commitments and needs.
